CRANIUM Pop-Up, Grand Rapids

Art Direction, 2024

A two day pop-up has one job before the doors open. Get people to show up.

Pop-up flyer. The Blue Bridge and Grand Rapids skyline under a brain formed from skywriting and storm cloud, with the date, address and lineup written into the sky.

Context

CRANIUM was opening for two days at HËMD in Grand Rapids, a room most of the audience had never been to, on a weekend competing with everything else in the city. The flyer was the invitation and most of the reach.

What I did

I art directed it as one image rather than a list of details. The Blue Bridge and the Grand Rapids skyline sit under a brain built from skywriting and storm cloud, and every piece of event information is written into the sky, so reading the poster and reading the details are the same act.

Outcome

The pop-up drew more than 100 RSVPs and roughly $10,000 in revenue across the two days.

Announcement asset for the same campaign, the mark rendered as an LED sign for screen and social placements.
